Every Friday, writers from around the globe join to write tiny tales in response to a photo prompt posted on Rochelle’s blog. This week’s photo prompt has been supplied by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields.

Ron’s story ~ Breakages

Crash!

The noise from my living room made me jump, spilling hot black coffee over my thin dressing gown. Swearing loudly I got up and rushed into the living room.

In front of me, my life lay broken and spread on the newly laminated floor. Multi-coloured fragments of broken glass, pottery and metal spread out over the dark wood floor. Why hadn’t I kept my carpet?  A lifetime of memories shattered in a few minutes and no way of going back.

Alone in my family home I felt my stomach swell to a tear, which forced itself into a flood.

Joanna’s story ~ Rebuilding

Jorr lifted the faded box from the attic cupboard. Gently placing the box in front of Riva, their eyes met.

Softly, he said, “I know this is important to you.”

Riva’s eyes expressed her gratitude. Lifting the lid, she carefully withdrew the objects from their compartments. As she touched each one, heart energy streamed into her core, filling the void created when she lost her family in the invasion.

Riva sighed with joy. “I can feel her! I’m completely wrapped in her energy now!”

Jorr smiled, relieved that Riva had reconnected with her ancestral line.

Maybe now she can heal.
