The Lazuli Portals will be at Saltash and Harewood House Mind-Body-Spirit Fairs

Hello everyone,

Just a quick post about two Mind Body Spirit fairs that Ron and I will have stalls at this month and next. 🙂

The first is at Saltash, Cornwall, this Saturday:

saltash-12-nov

And the second is back at Harewood House, Plympton on Saturday 3 December:

harewood-3-dec

If you’re in the area and are interested in crystals, spirituality, lifeforce energy/Reiki, and/or our novels (which combine all of these!) then why not pop in and come and say hello? 🙂

We personally sign all books that we sell at the fairs, and we may be able to parcel your books in one of our special wax-sealed bags, too. 🙂

Even if you’re not local, we’d really appreciate you sharing this post, if you’re happy to, just in case you have friends or family who are! Thank you!!

With lovelight blessings,

Joanna and Ron | The Lazuli Portals

Reiki for Life: A Complete Guide to Reiki PracticeReiki for Life: A Complete Guide to Reiki Practice by Penelope Quest
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

As far as energy-healing systems and techniques go, Reiki is my first love.

I decided to re-read this book on Reiki to see if I came across any fresh insights. Having done so, I am really happy to include the book in our Recommended Read blog series. 🙂

Starting with a definition of Reiki, Penelope Quest offers a detailed account of how this energy technique was discovered, and how Reiki as a holistic system became as popular and accessible as it is today. She also discusses the electromagnetic spectrum, vibration, and frequency, and explains that Reiki (Rei-Ki) is a specific band of Ki (life-force energy/prana/qi), which is why the ability to open to Reiki energy in particular is normally through an ‘attunement’ or an ‘empowerment’’.

There is a detailed and graphically-illustrated section on treating yourself and others with standard hand positions after Reiki First Degree. Later chapters offer a variety of ways to apply the Second and Third Degree symbols and energies. Quest makes it clear that Reiki works intelligently, and that it assists with improving balance, harmony and wellbeing on the spiritual and mental/emotional levels as well as the physical. Healing can be about so much more than relieving a cramped muscle or toothache – and indeed, it often is!

I particularly like the creative uses of the symbols, as I like to work with intent and to see what my imagination and intuition can come up with. Reiki is pure energy, and intent, as always, is the key! (No doubt you can see where a lot of the concepts integrated into The Cordello Quest and Mosaic of Light come from!)

As you’d expect (if you are familiar with healing work) there is also guidance on both self-healing and on working with others both in-person and remotely (“distance healing”). Additional suggestions are offered for self-cleansing. The importance of spiritual development is also highlighted.

This is a practical, informative, and useful guide for those learning to work with the Reiki energy and its techniques, including advice for readers who are setting up as practitioners. It’s one I shall refer to time and time again as my experience develops and my healing requirements change!

The Soulmate Experience: A Practical Guide to Creating Extraordinary RelationshipsThe Soulmate Experience: A Practical Guide to Creating Extraordinary Relationships by Mali Apple

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book Details from Amazon

Create the Love of Your Life–Keep the Life in Your Love

Since it was first published, The Soulmate Experience has helped thousands of people around the world create relationships that are intimately connected on all levels–emotional, intellectual, sexual, and spiritual–and a continual source of love, inspiration, and joy.

This “practical guide” is really two books in one:

Part 1 gives both singles and couples powerful tools for creating extraordinary relationships. Chapters like Loving Your Body, Reducing Your Baggage, and Raising Your Soulmate Potential will help you let go of anything that might be preventing you from experiencing deep connection and intimacy.

Part 2 shares the secrets for keeping the love and passion in your relationship fully alive, every single day. Through chapters like Turning Expectations into Invitations, Transforming the Energy of Jealousy, Exploring the Edges, and Connecting on a Soul Level, you will learn how to approach even the toughest challenges in ways that actually bring you closer together. And Playing Leapfrog will show you how to lovingly guide each other to unlock your full potential in every area of your lives.

Whether you’re single and searching for your “soulmate,” or want more excitement and connection in the relationship you already have, the groundbreaking ideas in this book–and the inspiring stories of real people putting them into practice–will open you to a whole new world of possibilities. Because The Soulmate Experience is more than just a book. It’s a great way of living life.

What I thought of it

This book is so much more than a “how to” guide for couples committed to (or seeking) a happier romantic relationship. While the main focus is on how to fully connect with your signficant other, the insights and wisdom within this book offer a much broader scope.
After all, *every* relationship we have (including the one with self) is about ‘connection’, to one degree or another. Yet most of the time we react from old patterns, based on core beliefs that are flawed, outdated, and/or perhaps even harmful.

What if you could change your experience so that you approached every conversation with openness – and a willingness to learn something from it? What if you could live more synchronistically, more in tune with yourself and what’s at the heart of your relationships? What if you could learn to feel full acceptance for each person you interact with – and yourself?
It is possible to feel a profound and lasting connection to those you love, but it does take work!

There is real wisdom in this book … a real understanding of what it takes to keep a relationship vibrant and alive, exciting and expanding, and filled with joy and deep connection. Of course Mali and Joe understand that not all soulmate connections need be romantic. Speaking from Ron’s and my own experience, there can be just as much learning, transformation, and reward in a non-romantic connection, especially if there is a special context for it.

Mali and Joe deliver their guidance, insights, and suggestions in a clear, easy-to-read narrative, as though they’re holding your hand as you read the words. Some of the ideas may be ones you already know. Some may be stretching your “comfort zone expansion” too far. Others will resonate at the deepest level, and you will discover a chance to transform your beliefs and your perspectives, to be fully present in your relationships, and to see the world in a new way. You will become someone who can *be* a soulmate, and as you consciously work on and understand your relationships, you may find that life is a richer experience as a result.

This fits nicely with where I am right now – dealing with my limitations and “stuff” with the support, trust, and love of those who are truly committed to being there for me (and I with them/vice versa). Soulmate relationships are such a special gift – with this book, you may find ways to honour and cherish them even more deeply than you do now.

So … please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments! Is this book one which appeals to you? Do any of the ideas or topics resonate with you? We’d love to hear what you think!

Two Tales: ‘Breakages’ and ‘Rebuilding’

Every Friday, writers from around the globe join to write tiny tales in response to a photo prompt posted on Rochelle’s blog. This week’s photo prompt has been supplied by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields.

Ron’s story ~ Breakages

Crash!

The noise from my living room made me jump, spilling hot black coffee over my thin dressing gown. Swearing loudly I got up and rushed into the living room.

In front of me, my life lay broken and spread on the newly laminated floor. Multi-coloured fragments of broken glass, pottery and metal spread out over the dark wood floor. Why hadn’t I kept my carpet?  A lifetime of memories shattered in a few minutes and no way of going back.

Alone in my family home I felt my stomach swell to a tear, which forced itself into a flood.

Joanna’s story ~ Rebuilding

Jorr lifted the faded box from the attic cupboard. Gently placing the box in front of Riva, their eyes met.

Softly, he said, “I know this is important to you.”

Riva’s eyes expressed her gratitude. Lifting the lid, she carefully withdrew the objects from their compartments. As she touched each one, heart energy streamed into her core, filling the void created when she lost her family in the invasion.

Riva sighed with joy. “I can feel her! I’m completely wrapped in her energy now!”

Jorr smiled, relieved that Riva had reconnected with her ancestral line.

Maybe now she can heal.

See You: Joanna, Reiki and Ron

I See You

One of the themes for our second Writers’ Circle meeting in November 2012 was ‘See You’.

Well, as soon as I saw those words, I remembered the movie, Avatar – and the piece I wrote flowed from there. I was compelled to write about a recent experience of offering in-person Reiki to Ron, when he and his wife spent a few hours with my husband and me.

Not knowing how the other members of the Group would react to my ‘story’ was nerve-racking, and I was tempted not to read it! But I had to follow my instincts, needed to share my authentic self on this small, public stage. Below, I share the words with you as I did with them.
After all my concerns, I discovered that the Group contains another healer, who said I had put into words what she had never been able to. Several members were interested in finding out more about Reiki! Others said they loved my account because it helped them understand Reiki more clearly – they had heard of it, but had never been told about it in a way they could understand or feel part of. I was astounded by the positive feedback and warmth I received! The risk had been worth it. 🙂
Anyone who has read The Cordello Quest will no doubt recognise the similarity between my Reiki sensing, and the sensations Keira experiences when accessing lovelight. A writer’s experience is never wasted. 😉

SEE YOU

With a light touch, my fingers come to rest upon your shoulders. I notice the hatched weave of your cotton shirt, the warmth of your skin radiating from beneath.

I close my eyes.

My breathing slows as I switch on my connection to the Reiki energy. The air above my crown seems to stretch and open, the Reiki pouring in as though through a funnel. I feel its weight as it settles there, its presence as tangible as any hat. It is comforting, familiar, my reassurance that the connection is open.

The energy sinks lower, into the aura which surrounds my physical body. The skin on my face warms, and tingles softly, then my upper body accepts the energy. Within seconds of making the connection, my body is suffused with a pleasant light buzzing sensation, a bloom of warmth so that I feel like I’m glowing inside.

I feel the tingling warmth flow from my hands into your shoulders. I’m barely touching you, yet the strength of sensation is staggering. Like water running through a hose, the energy pours through me, pulled inwards by your own aura. There is an intermittent pulsing as you draw more Reiki through me, increasing the energy flow and heating my hands still further. “Relax,” I think, and a heartfelt soft sigh escapes you.

I am deeply peaceful, only vaguely aware of sound, touch, scent, and the gentle power pulsing through me. I am a conduit, a connector; my mind is soft and allowing and open, and thought is stilled. As my hands move and scan within your energy field, I find a hot, prickly area. I focus there, an image of knotted spheres appearing in my inner vision. I hold my heated palm there until the spiky feeling softens and dissolves, then both hands move intuitively as I chase the pain from one area to the next, from elbow to forearm.

Now, one hand resting lightly upon your wrist, the other close to your fingertips, it feels as though a wash of cool air is breathed across my open palm. You feel the change in the air too, and remark upon it. The breeze continues, cool and refreshing. The pain is shifting, reducing, clearing.

Geometric patterns have been flickering like Catherine Wheels behind my eyelids – energy made visible; I knew better than to focus on them lest they disappear. They spin and twirl, delicate filigrees of light. The outside world remains soft and blurred; all I am is this moment of flow. All I am is sensing and guiding and clearing. All I am is energy.

There is no me; no you; no them. There is no separation. There is only awareness of this energy and this connection.

“I see you,” I think, remembering the phrase from the Avatar movie.

In time, the flow of energy slows to a trickle, then stops, and I return to the world of the five senses. I am slightly dazed, as though waking after a deep sleep. My hands feel heavily fuzzy; they need cleansing, washing with cool water. You have taken the healing you needed, and your pain has gone. It’s time for a cup of tea!
