Story-wise, we first come across opalite in the second book of our Lazuli Portals trilogy, MOSAIC OF LIGHT. (Psst, if you follow the link to the Mosaic of Light page, you’ll find additional quotes, and multimedia bonuses!)

Keira and Jason have made their first visit to a crystal shop, Keira allowing herself to be drawn to the stones which are waiting for her.

I reached out and handled the small, milky white stone, letting it rest in my palm.

The stone was one of the polished ones, and flared with a rainbow light. My palm began to tingle.

“It’s opalite,” Rachel explained. “It can help connection with angels and the like.”

“It’s stunning,” I murmured. The colours within the small crystal melded soft indigo and lavender with palest turquoise, the colours shifting from one moment to the next. It cast an amber light onto my palm; the stone seemed to be filled with light and radiance, and joy. It nestled perfectly in the cup of my hand as though it had been made for it.

Later, Keira and Co. are working with their stones in the Crystal City. It’s a crucial scene, but as we are spoiler-free, I am leaving out some of the more dramatic sentences which surround the ones I’ve quoted below!

The music was falling into that same rhythm of inhale, exhale, a rhythm of the universe.

My hand fizzed and I opened my palm. The opalite’s orange and lavender light flared across my skin like a tiny, stormy sunset. The gold specks in the lapis sparkled, almost burning in their intensity. Now all we lacked was Jason’s clear quartz.

I find my opalite ‘crystals’ enchanting. Multiple hues play over the skin of my palm as though miniature rainbows have appeared from nowhere! And despite the opalite’s pale colour, I also feel it has a warmth to it, like a soft, open sky as the day nears its end.

When Ron and I have placed my opalite on our table at mind-body-spirit fairs, its glow has often drawn potential customers toward us and sparked conversation! When Keira first met Shannon – who was shy and wary, and lacking in self-confidence – the opalite was the way she gently invited Shannon into conversation, too! How appropriate, then, that opalite is said to help with communication and transitions. 🙂

I also treated myself to an opalite dragon pendant at a fair. Isn’t it lovely?

Opalite is a man-made synthetic glass, mistakenly known by a number of different names, including Tiffany Stone, Opalised Fluorite and Purple Opal.

It is associated with the third eye (brow) chakra, and with psychic abilities, meditation, communication (including spiritual communication), and transitions of all kinds.

The stone is usually iridescent, and can be clear or milky.

Opalite is subtle yet highly energetic. It removes energy blockages of the chakras and meridians.

Emotionally, it engenders persistence and gives us strength in verbalising our hidden feelings. It can also help us to be successful in business.

Opalite is for all-round healing. It aids sexual prowess, enhancing sexual experience. Opalite stabilises mood swings and helps in overcoming fatigue. It purifies the blood and kidneys.

Healing properties and photo of heart-shaped opalite used with kind permission from Caryl at Caryl crafts gemstones and crystals into healing jewellery. Her beautiful creations are sold worldwide.

Next to come in this series will be P is for Psychometry! However, writing for our blog (and other business-related things) still remains a “do it when I can” endeavour, so please forigve our absence in the meantime. Health comes first, and then writing stories! 😉

With lovelight,
